Exciting New Stuff added to our Games LibraryI allow myself a game or two for my birthday and at Christmas; late last year brought Concordia and Euphoria into the fold, which have both seen plenty of action. Yunnan now rivals them as a favourite in the shop whenever there is time for a medium length game, and with supplies of Oddville now secured we now have our own copy which also gets frequent use, especially as it can be over in less than an hour. Father Christmas brought me Star Realms, with which Sally and I have been trading blow ever since. As a development of Ascension, and long-time favourite, we knew we would like it, and it is quick enough to whip out at the drop of a hat. Honours are even, but we also got tempted by Empire Engine, at which Sally thrashes me; we also couldn't resist Tea Time, also quick (and also fits on a pub table), I do rather better at that. We now also have some very quick games in Dodekka and Diamonsters; the latter came in with a demo copy of the Harbor Expansion for Machi Koro, which we wanted as we had succumbed to the temptation of allowing ourselves a copy of the main game. Dice games are always cruel to me, but the more we play it, the more strategies to cope with it become apparent. Another quick card game we have acquired at Sally's insistence is Sushi Go which has also proved a most useful addition.
My latest indulgence is Hyperborea – I was keen for more more plays after being introduced to it a couple of months ago, the owner left failing to bring it to our Wednesday evening sessions (too many other temptations) so we now have a library copy for instant access. In reply, Sally insisted on her own copy of Patchwork, definitely the two-player game of the moment, and I readily agreed. And For the moment I have to leave you to do your own research on the games or preferably come down and try them. I must also warn you that some have sold out very quickly and are awaiting reprints – rest assured that we will get them back in a.s.a.p., and ours are here to share till then. |
